Information for people with disabilities
There is one main entrance to the Empire itself and accessed by three shallow and wide steps with handrails either side- regret no ramp facilities here but we are happy to assist with wheelchair.
Restaurants & Bars
There is one step (double door wide ) into the main Watkin's restaurant and many tables on the level after that which can easily take a wheelchair instead of a chair or there are alcove tables that can accommodate those that would prefer not to be on full view. Our menu changes often so are not printed in Braille but we are happy to read out to those who are sight impaired. We can also cater to those with special diets and kindly mention on making reservations.
There is one step from the lobby down into the lounge. This is a wide step and has a support at the side. The bar is high but we can arrange for table service.
The standard grade of rooms are most suited to those with certain types of disability as they tend to be located on the level with the front lift and not too far away and we have one superior double bedded room that can take a wheelchair.
Most of our rooms have a bath with overhead shower but we have a few Budget grade rooms at the side with walk in shower only and these budget rooms are on the level with the front lift.
- Superior and budget rear grades would all involve stairs or use of rear lift at the back of the hotel..
- 72 Townhouse next door has no lift and completely separate from the main building so not at all suitable .
We can accept reservations via telephone, fax email or directly through our website, which is also DDA compliant and accessible to sight impaired also. We have vibrating buzzers which can be given to hearing impaired and for emergency alerts, I e fire.
